Dr. Michael’s teaching is guided by the theories and works of Nobel Laureate Herbert A. Simon in the area of active learning and the proposition that “Learning results from what the student does and thinks and only from what the student does and thinks. The teacher can only advance learning by influencing what the student does to learn,” (as quoted in Ambrose, S.A., et al. 2010).
