TCM Diagnosis

TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on Oriental Medicine and is holistic. Dr Karen Castle mainly uses TCM in her healing practice.

Oriental Medicine is a holistic medicinal approach developed and practiced over several thousand years. The practice of TCM consists of acupuncture, herbs and bodywork. Herbal formulas are prescribed by the TCM practitioner. Additional modalities include cupping, electro- stimulation, gua sha(scraping), and nutrition.

In TCM, the patient is diagnosed with a condition based on the Chinese philosophy of balancing the qi(energy) to reinstate balance in the body to restore the healthy function of the tissues, organs and body systems.

The philosophy is different from western medicine because this approach views the human body as a whole and considers the interrelation and interaction with the environment. Therefore, this theory looks for the signs of disharmony in the external and internal environment of a person in order to understand, treat and prevent illness and disease.
