Transpersonal Psychology

Transpersonal psychology is a specialized psychology focusing on the transpersonal, self-transcendent or spiritual aspects of the human experience. It is concerned with humanity's highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding and realization of universal or unitive states of consciousness.

People who want to benefit from Transpersonal psychology are interested in self-development, having peak experiences and/or mystical experiences.

Similar schools of psychology are psychoanalytic, humanistic and behavioral psychology. Transpersonal psychology attempts to unify modern psychology theory with frameworks from different forms of mysticism. This includes altered states of consciousness, shamanic journeys, trance and other spiritual experiences.

Transpersonal psychology is a concept to understand the body as more than our bodies, minds and egos and that we are spiritual beings living a human life.

"The way to recover the meaning of life and the worthwhileness of life is to recover the power of experience, to have impulse voices from within, and to be able to hear these impulse voices from within-and make the point: This can be done."
